FAQ’s
What kind of gear do you bring to a session?
I bring a variety of drums, shakers, tambourines, and the like to every session. I tailor it to fit what the client is asking for (drum set, percussion, etc.). I usually bring more than I need, but then I have a variety of sounds for you and your client to pick through and find the one that gels just right with the tune. Check out my list of gear, and if there is something specific you want me to bring, ask for it! If you don’t see something on there, ask anyways, there is a chance I have left some things off.

Do you have mics?
Yes. I have a complete set of drum set mics for a six piece kit. So if mics are sometimes why you might not be tracking drums, don’t worry. I am fortunate enough to be endorsed by Audix Microphones, and I have very professional mics that sound both live and in the studio.
Â
Do you need the songs charted out?
Not necessarily. It makes it easier to follow a tune, but if I do need a chart, I can write one out in just one or two listens through a tune.
Â
Do you play well with a click?
Yes. I play with a click almost every time I play live, and I am used to playing with a click in the studios.
Â
Do you need to hear the songs before you come?
No, I don’t need to hear them before I come, but it helps. Sometimes listening through it with the artist, we can talk out what they want, however, if time is tight, then having the songs, even just one day before tracking, even if it is a scratch track, will make the session fly by much faster.
Â
What do you charge for a session?
Most people are worried that their players won’t play for the budget they have. Give me a call, or email me. I’ll work with you and we’ll reach a price that works for you and your clients’ budget.
Â
When can you show up for a session?
I am pretty flexible when it comes to tracking times. I will probably be there 30 minutes or more early to load in and set-up (if needed).
Â
When should I contact you about a session I want you to play on?
As soon as you think you need me! My schedule fills up fairly quickly. However, if it’s a last minute call because another drummer didn’t show, or the idea just got hashed out and the tracks need be done the next day, call me, I’ll work to fit you in.
